Alcohol Awareness - Litter

While venturing out at 5am in the morning to try and record evidence of partying the night before, it stuck me how much litter was both created and cleaned up before 6am. In fact I have had to wake up earlier in the morning in order to record this mess before the council workers clear it up. Its as if in one breath the government are condeming people for binge drinking, while in the next, doing nothing to stop the advertisment and publication of cheap drinks and parties. Due to the time of year, and the low temperatures I am assuming that there will be even more rubbish left in the streets during the summer months. Lots of warm clothes and an awarenes of ones surroundings were required to capture these images, especially as it was dark, I was carrying an SLR and large Metz 45.

Alcohol Awareness - Flyers

A topic of my alcohol awareness project is the proliferation of flyers I am given in and around the University. These flyers are colourful, graphic and leave you in no doubt as to what their message is - cheap drink. They are handed out to students as they move from one lecture venue to the next. They give details of cheap drinks and locations where promotion parties are to be held with the promise of a great time.

A substantial number of these flyers can be found in the streets littering the pavements in the early morning after the night before which is where I obtained them.I photographed them at home then adjusted exposure in photoshop and cropped them as seen. It was an obvious choice to leave them in colour as it adds to the message of a fun time to be had if you get drunk.
